Collaboration...

The first time I collaborated with someone on a novel was with John Gojcaj in 2023.

On the Side of The Road is a marvelous story about twins who are separated at birth.

John had a dream over 20 years ago about the trauma suffered by twins who are separated. There are times when a twin dies, and the surviving twin is left empty and forlorn. This book is about a mother who was forced to sell one of her babies so they all didn’t starve—a horrible choice for any mother to have to make.

We’ve all heard the stories where a twin is injured, and the other twin feels the pain. There is a special bond with twins that becomes almost mystical.

John and I would meet at our cigar club a few times a week and talk on the telephone daily for six months. The timeline is in the 1980s and 1990s, so the dialogue had to be precise to the period. There were no cell phones like we have today, so people actually used the telephone or met with one another face-to-face.

Every chapter was dissected to keep the storyline moving in the right direction.

One of the things we did, and if you read the book, you will see, is include twists and turns and some hidden things to let the reader's imagination take hold of the story. I’m not going to spill the beans here, so read it and contact me with your own thoughts.

John and I never had a bad word during the wiring, and we collaborated with Michael Miceli on the screenplay. The screenplay is awesome if I do say so myself.

I don’t write books to make movies, but this one is definitely going to be on the list of my books that will be made into features.

John and I will be publicizing this book in the next few months.

The reviews we are getting are incredible, and they are making us want to do another one sometime in the future after I finish two other projects.
